We are accepting applications for our Child and Family Patient Centered Outcomes Research Scholars Program. This mentored career development (K12) program for junior faculty focuses on patient centered outcomes research and comparative effectiveness research.
This K12 program supports junior faculty, who are on their way to building careers that include research directly linked to delivery systems. The funding for this program comes from the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) administered through the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). It builds on our fellowship training in the Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship, but this program is targeted at junior faculty members, rather than post-doctoral fellows. The three primary sites of the program are Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC), and the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute (DPM). We link with a wide range of delivery systems and have a symposia series on key topics taking place throughout the year. The grant covers 75% of each scholar’s salary (up to a limit of $90,000) for 2-3 years, and provides additional funds (up to $25k annually) for scholars’ research development costs and individual training.

We are accepting applications through November 15, 2015 for positions starting on August 1, 2016. For this program, it is critical that scholars have primary interests in patient-centered outcomes and comparative effectiveness research as defined by PCORI. Applicants must have or concurrently apply for a faculty position at one of our primary sites. Health Alliance Northwest (HANW) a Washington-based provider-owned health plan, is actively seeking a proven leader to serve as the senior executive accountable for performance on all levels with heightened focus on operations and strategic growth across multiple product categories and within markets where provider risk partners seek a true collaboration with a health plan dedicated to working in concert to transform healthcare within their respective communities.
Health Alliance Northwest is an innovative health insurance joint venture between Confluence Health and Health Alliance Medical Plan. This unique collaboration allows for localized innovative care to be delivered by Confluence Health and other Washington based healthcare organizations while leveraging the infrastructure and 30-year success of Health Alliance, an Illinois based, provider owned health plan.
The Vice President serves in a key integrative role responsible for the overall health plan strategy ensuring objectives are aligned with the goals and values of all stakeholders. This role will proactively lead the continued development and success of the integrated relationship between HANW and Health Alliance, identify process improvement opportunities, initiate best practices and provide functional insights and support for finance, operations and quality. In addition, this person will lead the organization’s growth strategy supported by a consistent market message driving brand awareness and how HANW differentiates itself from competition.
This position will report to the Chief Administrative Officer of Health Alliance as it relates to operational performance with a dotted line relationship to the CEO of Confluence Health as Vice Chairman of the HANW Board of Directors as well as a dotted line relationship to the Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer for Health Alliance and the Carle Health System.
With over 400,000 members, Health Alliance is the largest health plan in downstate Illinois and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Carle, an integrated health delivery system in Central Illinois anchored by a 400 bed hospital and 600+ provider group. In addition, Health Alliance has successful joint venture relationships and risk partnerships in the state of Washington as well as Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.
Confluence Health is an integrated healthcare delivery system that includes two hospitals, and over 400 total providers within primary care and 40 medical specialties. As the major medical provider between Seattle and Spokane, Confluence Health is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care throughout North Central Washington.
HANW seeks a collaborative and innovative leader with impeccable communication skills that practices progressive ways of thinking and is prepared to leverage the value of an integrated delivery system approach to transforming healthcare. The position requires a bachelor’s degree (MHA or MBA preferred) and a minimum of ten (10) years management experience in healthcare or a health insurance environment with a minimum of five (5) years in senior leadership.
The desired candidate will have successful work history within one or a combination of the following relatable environments:
1.) Health insurance company with hands on experience with risk-based contracting, development of provider networks and/or health plan operations.
2.) Integrated healthcare system within a managed care department focused on provider engagement to achieve optimal outcomes and financial performance within a capitated or similarly oriented risk-based environment preferably stretching across multiple payer categories.
3.) Staff or group model HMO where the culture of collaboration across all stakeholders involved in patient centered care provides singularity or a narrowing of strategic focus.
