The Endocrinology/Diabetology Specialist position at the Stratton VAMC will encompass the breadth of clinical care, including inpatient consultation, outpatient clinic and inpatient rounding. The SVAMC cares for Veterans within the Upstate New York region from the Catskill region in the south, to the New York/Canada border in the North, and between Syracuse and Western Massachusetts from East/West.
The Endocrinology/Diabetology Specialist is charged with delivering the best possible Endocrinology/Diabetology services to our Veteran patients. The Endocrinology/Diabetology Specialist will perform indicated services for conditions in both in-patient and out-patient clinical settings, including telemedicine. This care must be delivered in accordance with hospital policy and meet community standards and pertains to outpatients as well as inpatients. The Endocrinology/Diabetology Specialist works within her or his privileges at all times. The Endocrinology/Diabetology Specialist is expected to maintain current knowledge and skills. She or he must be able to deliver interventions throughout the full spectrum of Endocrinology/Diabetology Care; i.e. s/he is expected to maintain good diagnostic and therapeutic acumen.
Teaching is an integral part of the work of a VA staff Endocrinologist/Diabetologist. This pertains to colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students, nursing and other ancillary staff.
The staff Endocrinology/Diabetology Specialist exercises corporate citizenship by serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested.
The staff Endocrinology/Diabetology Specialist provides expanded access to services via off normal tour or on call periods.
Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion.
All VA requirements must be met on a timely basis.
