JOB TITLE: Credit Balance Specialist I-RC LOCATION: Buckhorn Office Building DEPARTMENT: Finance WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time JOB SUMMARY: Provides the necessary functions to bill, collect, analyze, and adjudicate all hospital and professional accounts and functions within the Geisinger Health System. This position executes and performs programs to insure efficient operations of the Geisinger Health System Revenue Management program in order to resolve credit balances to support GHS operations and strategic initiatives. In the position of Revenue Management Credit Balance Specialist, responsibilities include resolving credits for all patients and third party insurance payers, cash application, adjudicating, identifying, analyzing and associated with approximately $30 million of hospital and professional accounts. Reports to the Revenue Management Credit Balance Manager. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates strong mathematical skills. Organizes work to effectively utilize time management and maintain workloads at a current status. Demonstrates the ability to work well in a team atmosphere fostering a positive, professional relationship with all staff across department and company lines. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree required. Or High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one year business office experience or experience in a health care setting required. Must take the required course training(s) within 6 months of assuming the position. Must take the Registration Credentialing Program within 6 months of assuming position and pass within 9 months. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Programs. Additional business courses including typing, PC, various software packages, spreadsheets, etc. preferred. Minimum of one year to learn all job functions regarding job responsibilities and requirements. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in an office environment.
