| JOB TITLE: Principal Server Cloud Engineer LOCATION: Geisinger Office Building I Annex (Danville) DEPARTMENT: Server Management WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time (1.0 FTE) JOB SUMMARY: Geisinger is currently a highly virtualized environment looking to expand into various cloud services where it fits our strategic infrastructure plan. We seek individuals experience administering cloud services who will be responsible for making decisions about server, cloud and storage technology. This position reports to the Director of Platform Services. The role is also responsible for recommending new technologies to solve technical business problems. Needs to work with other teams such as network, application teams and enterprise architects to build enterprise class infrastructure solutions in a collaborative way. The ability to operationalize new technologies is a key requirement of this role. May be needed for fourth tier support and root cause analysis. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System (GHS) in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to self-manage Ability to train other team members to provide support coverage Ability to multitask, assess and prioritize quickly Possess a high sense of urgency and commitment to customer service Effectively communicates status of all projects, problems, and issues to the department management team. Must have good verbal and written communications skills. Must have very strong problem-solving skills. Experience with being part of large technical projects Must have the ability to learn new technologies quickly COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Ability to design and engineer advanced server, cloud or storage architecture preferred. Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure; or vCloud on AWS preferred. Knowledge of Hybrid Cloud, VDI, Software Defined Storage, Containers or other new technologies preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server (all versions) preferred. Working knowledge of RedHat Linux (all versions) preferred. Working knowledge of VMware vSphere preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic) field required. Minimum of two-ten years of equivalent experience in a STEM field required, salary to commensurate with experience.
In lieu of degree, may consider equivalent experience in a STEM field.
Experience in being part of large technical projects required. Job can be filled at a lower pay grade with salary commensurate with experience. If a suitably experienced candidate cannot be found, applicants who meet the basic qualifications but possess fewer years of experience will be considered for hire at a lower level.
