Post-Doctoral Fellowship - Trauma Psychology

Rush University Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in downtown Chicago is recruiting a Post-Doctoral Fellow for the Section for Population Behavioral Health . The Section of Population Behavioral Health focuses on addressing the needs of communities on the westside of Chicago through clinical, educational, and training partnerships with community organizations to promote evidence-based practices.

The Fellow will play an integral part in the delivery of evidence-based treatments to adults suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related disorders. Specifically, the Fellow will work as a study therapist for a clinical trial examining the feasibility and effectiveness of Cognitive Processing Therapy delivered over the course of a single week. In addition to delivering the intensive PTSD treatment, the Fellow will conduct structured diagnostic interview assessments for PTSD and comorbid disorders. If desired, the Fellow can use some of the time for other research activities.

The Fellow will receive training in evidence-based treatments (e.g., Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure), as well as gold standard structured diagnostic assessments (Clinician Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5, Structured Diagnostic Interview for DSM-5 Anxiety, Mood, and Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders). The Fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in ongoing community-based clinical services and research in the Section for Community Behavioral Health and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This postdoctoral fellowship is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience working with a multidisciplinary team at a major academic medical center, while also providing direct clinical care to individuals residing in Chicago's underserved communities. The postdoctoral fellowship is for one year.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with underserved adult patient populations who have experienced trauma. Experience or interest in evidence-based trauma treatments is required. Training or familiarity with principles of Community Psychology is desired. Qualified candidates will also have a strong research background and some publications, and will be interested in establishing a career as a scientist-practitioner. Qualified candidates must have an APA approved doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
