Job SummaryDirects related activities of the department, including project management, staff management, analysis, design, testing, implementation, and support of the user community. Provides planning, consultation and advisory services to various departments system-wide. Oversees major projects related to the Charge Description Master (CDM). Administers and champions the objectives of the departmentin order to optimize revenue generation and satisfaction through a standardized comprehensive and complaint patient accounting system. Works directly with vendors and other Geisinger departments on CDM enhancement needs to meet Revenue Cycle standards for quality.
Job Duties- Directs the Revenue Management CDM Activity including oversight of staff and projects to achieve desired Revenue Management goals and allocation of projects to staff while resolving departmental Obstacles to achieve system goals.
- Directs projects including but not limited to Merger and Acquisition Hospital activity and new Service Line Activity through completion including analysis phase, documentation, client meetings, CDM team direction, meeting establishing and tracking and meeting targets and identifying key risk items.
- Produces project documentation and tracking data to support projects.
- Maintains understanding of commonly-used workflows, concepts, current best practices, and procedures.
- Directs team of staff while mentoring and promoting individual and team building skills resulting in a stronger, more productive work group that furthers the organizations goals.
- Directs the implementation and maintenance on all major CDM projects..
- Makes recommendations to improve the CDM, Corporate Standardization Model and other related areas by reviewing industry trends.
- Responsible to be subject matter expert for Best Practice Charge Descriptions Master content including current coding, UBE information, standardization decisions and General Ledger assignment..
- Responsible for reviewing external Compliance Audit findings as requested and preparing appropriate Corrective Action Plan (CAP) responses and implementing changes in coordination with Billing department.
- Provides review and signoff approval for edit testing, Mergers testing, Post live implementation go live testing, go live oversight dates and other areas as requested.
- Responsible for existing vendor management including review of contracts.
- Responsibility to work directly with vendors to implement, test and signoff on necessary maintenance enhancements and updates.
- Responsible for investigating new technology developments in hardware, software and application techniques within the health care industry Responsible to work with Information Technology Programming to oversee existing and new implementations of Vendor Software connectivity to the patient accounting Billing System.
- This includes validation, testing and obtaining all documentation and appropriate project signoffs.
- Assumes a leadership and planning role with regard to regulatory changes and added services within assigned hospital service lines.
- Responsible to approve and signoff on Vendor Additions, Modifications and Deletions Responsible for the determining Department measurable metrics and monitoring variances in these metrics for resolutions.
- Responsible for establishing process flows, procedures, change control process and other operating characteristics.
- Responsible for ensuring monthly reconciliation and documentation between the patient accounting Billing System and the CDM Vendor software tool.
