Job Summary

We are seeking a fulltime faculty member (M.D. or Ph.D.) with the ability to provide instruction in the area of pathology in the medical program at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine located at the Scranton PA campus. Candidates with experience in pathophysiology instruction, or who hold a degree in another related field with the ability to teach pathophysiology are also encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have experience in active learning (flipped classroom) or other evidence-based pedagogy and will be able to function in a team-teaching environment. Faculty professor positions are appointed at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level comporting with educational experience and scholarly activity. Candidates should have a record of instruction to health science and/or graduate students and demonstrated scholarly activity in education, basic science, clinical science, community, or outcomes research.

Job Duties

The candidate works with an interdisciplinary team of educators from other basic and clinical science disciplines, as well as clinical faculty, to enhance and implement an innovative and integrated curriculum. Faculty are expected to teach broadly across the curriculum and engage in scholarly research in areas of clinical and/or basic sciences, medical education, or community-oriented research. Additional duties include course or program administration and contributions to institutional and departmental governance and service. Work is typically performed in an office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. The specific statements in this profile are not intended to be all-inclusive. Position Details

Terminal Degree (e.g., Ph.D., MD, DO) with clinical or educational experience (or equivalent)
Knowledge and experience in pathology education with knowledge of pathophysiology of disease.
Potential for scholarly activity in an academic setting
Demonstrated educational experience and scholarly activity comporting with academic rank
Excellent interprofessional skills; attention to detail; time and ability to monitor GCSOM email communications in a timely fashion; ability to execute responsibilities of the job; demonstrate commitment to facilitating learning in the MD program.
Experience in small group activities (CBL, TBL) or familiarity/experience with active learning/evidence-based pedagogy

Education

Doctoral Degree-Pathology (Required), Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine-Pathology (Preferred)

Experience
