The University of North Carolina Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology/Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery is seeking a fellowship-trained academic urogynecologist for a full-time, open rank position. This position is ideally suited to a junior to mid-level faculty member. This position will be clinically active and also have time devoted to research and education. We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual who has a reputation of outstanding clinical excellence, whose primary responsibility will be the expansion of clinical services. Clinical responsibilities will include the outpatient and surgical care of complex patients with pelvic floor disorders in two different geographic locations (Hillsborough and Raleigh). Qualified applicants should have experience in the evaluation and management of pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, genitourinary fistulae, bladder pain syndrome, mesh complications, fecal incontinence, obstructed defecation, and dyspareunia. Requisite office procedures include complex urodynamic studies, diagnostic and operative cystoscopy, urethral bulking injections, and percutaneous posterior tibial nerve stimulation. Requisite surgical skills include extensive experience with vaginal and minimally-invasive repair of prolapse, management of primary and recurrent urinary incontinence with and without the use of graft materials, repair of complex genitourinary fistulae, and removal of pelvic mesh. The appropriate candidate will be willing to engage in outreach efforts to attract patients with pelvic floor disorders to our centers. The research responsibilities of this position include traditional scholarship that is required for academic promotion. We also require a candidate with evidence of teaching excellence, as this position will involve the direct supervision and education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Completion of a 4-year ACGME approved residency in OB-GYN and a 3-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery are required. Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery are required. The successful applicant will contribute to the academic missions (clinical care, education, and research) of the Department and the Division.
