The Chaplain Fellow learns and functions as a member of the chaplaincy care and education department providing spiritual care as part of the holistic, multidisciplinary team approach when helping patients deal with or recover from their illness or injury. WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Learns and provides relationally-grounded, outcomes-oriented, and research-informed chaplaincy care to culturally and spiritually diverse Baylor Scott & White Health patients, family, and staff. Utilizes the resources of both the chaplains and the academic/research health care setting to improve clinical and theological learning as well as learning about the scientific and ethical dimensions of healthcare research and treatment. Analyzes the chaplaincy care provided to include a detailed analysis of spiritual assessment, needs/interventions/outcomes, theological & behavioral dynamics, and how the care was or could be informed by research. Fosters self-awareness and spiritual formation/growth. Develops presentations and presents research findings when necessary and as required by program. Designs plan for developing advanced pastoral skills in one or more areas of practice. Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies and service organizations which supports the Baylor Scott & White Health community.
