![]() Human Resources Strategic Partner (College of Medicine)
Penn State is seeking an experienced human resources professional to lead the Human Resources (HR) function for the Penn State College of Medicine (COM).
As a member of Penn State Human Resources and through serving as Strategic Partner to the College of Medicine, the successful candidate will provide strategic HR leadership, foster innovation, help to deliver organizational improvements, and provide change management support. The Strategic Partner will ensure the alignment and execution of unit-level HR strategy established by the COM's strategic plan. It will also align COM execution to the University-level HR mission and strategy to enhance organizational and individual employee excellence and success.
The successful candidate will be the primary HR business partner for the college and ensure the alignment and delivery of HR strategic and service delivery needs across multiple HR functions, including Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity, Talent Management, Total Rewards, and Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of building strong relationships with a diverse group of individuals within a collegial environment by being collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented. Additionally, because of the relationships among COM, Penn State Health and Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, this role will need to be accomplished in collaborating with and managing issues across differing employment pools and associated terms and conditions. This role will also play a pivotal role in strengthening a COM culture that echoes Penn State University-wide HR excellence while balancing the unique nature of the COM's relationships with our health care system partners.
Exceptional technical skills and management abilities are required; the successful candidate must also have a passion for delivering high-quality service; the ability to develop and mentor staff; the ability to manage large-scale projects with diverse groups of people; and, the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, and administrators. Experience higher education employment environments, healthcare environments, and academic medicine environments are a plus. Knowledge and experience with matrixed organizations would also be beneficial.
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree and HR experience in higher education is preferred. Experience in HR management and leadership in recruitment and compensation, performance management, employee relations, and organizational development is required. A thorough knowledge of employment and labor laws is a must. Demonstrated competencies in the following areas will be required: superior verbal and written communication skills; strong quantitative and analytical skills; a collaborative and flexible decision-making style; a commitment to fostering diversity and equal opportunity; and, the vision to assess and proactively lead organizational change based on changing needs.
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
