Description Sr. Financial Analyst (Labs/Revenue Cycle/Finance) It is the desire of the Lab Operations/Charge Integrity/Lab Finance teams to hire a Sr. Financial Analyst (SFA) professional to build a database for use in analytics of the VUH Reference Lab testing. The database will serve to document critical data elements such as the vendor name, description of test, CPT codes and units billed and cost information. The SFA will reside in the Office of Finance - Clinical Operations and work collaboratively with Charge Integrity, Lab Operations and the Office of Finance Clinical Operations.
Currently reference labs are sent out by VUMC labs and invoiced directly for billing in Cerner. There is currently not a process in place to track the costs associated with these tests. Although the VUMC lab has contracts in place with ARUP and Mayo, there are numerous boutique labs utilized where contracts are not in place. The database build will allow for tracking of costs to net reimbursement to allow for strengthened oversight of pricing and minimize margin losses on high volume tests. This costing data will also be utilized to update EAP build in eStar for transition to Beaker to allow for parent/child explosion of CPT codes. Once costing data and EAP builds are completed, a standardized SOP will be developed that will allow for all costing data to be maintained and updated in EPSi, the Decision Support system, to assist in margin analysis, expense analysis and targeted programs. Scope of Work The SFA would build a database consisting of data extracted from the invoices from the outside vendors and the testing they currently perform for us. Data points within the database would include:
Once the database is built it will allow us to have visibility into the profitability of the testing by test and vendor. It would provide information upon which to base contract negotiations. It will provide the Revenue Cycle team with cost data upon which to base pricing and the Lab information needed for contract negotiations. Skill set needed Preferred: The ability to create a complex database The ability to interpret data with attention to detail Analytical background Comfortable with invoicing and the ability to interpret invoices (Perhaps someone who has processed payments and invoices but not necessary) NOTE: A Term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year. Although a position may exist for a specified or indefinite period, staff who accept term positions are not guaranteed employment for the entire period; they are employed for indefinite periods within the limit of the appointment. There are no guarantees of continued employment, either within the term or when the term ends.
