Reporting to the Director, Strategic Sourcing, the Commodity Director is responsible for leading the sourcing initiatives for BSWH third party spend. The Commodity Director is responsible for partnering with BSWH colleagues in the selection, negotiation, and on-going relationship management of suppliers to drive the highest level of value and best in class service and quality. Focus is on the reduction of initial spend and the achievement of ongoing year-over-year productivity improvements of assigned spend categories while maintaining or improving product quality and supplier service levels. The Commodity Director is expected to understand and implement strategies to affect the end-to-end supply chain optimization including price, delivery, quality, performance, ease of transacting and payment. The Commodity Director has responsibility to lead cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization to effect strategic placement of spend considering operational, clinical and regulatory needs. Key internal interfaces with the Commodity Director include Finance, Accounting, Revenue Cycle, Business stakeholders, Supply Chain Operations, Logistics, Legal, Risk Management, Compliance and Enterprise Security. This Commodity Director will have oversight of indirect sourcing for Purchased Services categories. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Develops and implements Category Strategies based evaluating the supplier base, spend analysis and aligning with Business stakeholders’ strategies and needs. Find opportunities, recognize gaps, and propose strategic plans for enterprise optimizations, improvements, and savings. - Prioritizes projects for assigned commodities, manages RFI and RFP processes, leads negotiations and ensures contract completion. - In categories where service is insourced and outsourced, works with insourced owners to ensure appropriate “make vs. buy” selection. - Communicates with cross-functional sourcing teams to identify products and services requiring sourcing. - Sets policies and procedures for managing the purchasing process for assigned commodities. Develops implementation plan for new process and supports Implementation Managers in ensuring execution. Also monitors contract compliance and works with Implementation Manager on resolution or escalation. - Provides ongoing communication to Supply Chain leadership and stakeholders on activities and status. - Identifies budgetary impact of new sourcing policy/contract. - Develops vendor management strategy and performance scorecard. Monitors and manages performance with support of Strategic Sourcing Director. - Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: - Master’s degree preferred. - Consulting Sourcing experience is preferred. - PMP certification or Project Management experience preferred - Proven experience of developing Category Strategies is required. You may need to provide samples of your Category Strategies during the interview process. - Strong analytical skills (will need to construct and execute multiple complex analyses - TCO, EVC, NPV). Must possess ability to think strategically and translate implications of analyses into sourcing strategies. - Strong knowledge of assigned commodities and materials management principles and practices. - Must be comfortable with conflict and willing to challenge conventional thinking, even from senior level management. - Strong interpersonal skills (the ability to develop and grow relationships and the ability to influence). #LI-SB1 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors Degree required - 5+ Years of Strategic Sourcing experience required - Intermediate to advance excel skills.
