Are you interested in being a part of the mission to cure cancer at MSK? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Investment Management Division! Whilst the title is Manager of Trading, there will be significant risk responsibilities associated with the role.
In pursuit of patient care and scientific research, our team manages long-term investment assets in excess of $6 billion in a global, multi-asset class, manager-driven portfolio based upon public equity, hedge fund, fixed income, real asset, venture, and private equity funds.
You will fully support the Manager of Trading and Risk to help execute our intermittent yet highly sensitive direct trading activities, analyze trading activities at our hedge fund managers, and support risk evaluation across all of our investment pools. You will be part of an innovative, collaborative, and interdependent team pursuing investment excellence across all investment pools for MSK.
You will contribute meaningfully to Investment Management Division goals and objectives by
- Executing trades to help transform the risk of the portfolio and to facilitate direct investments in securities and derivatives in parallel and mutual backup with the Manager of Trading and Risk.
- Conducting trades throughout the hours that global futures markets are open
- Improving our overall investment processes by collaborating with the Manager of Trading and Risk to support the rest of the Investment Management Division
- In conjunction with the Manager of Trading and Risk, improve the Investment Management Divisions understanding of the drivers of performance and risk of our investments
- Cultivating an understanding of our current suite of managers by working with the Manager of Trading and Risk and lead coverages
- Enhancing the Investment Management Divisions knowledge and practice by cultivating expertise and knowledge within the team on both day-to-day issues via market commentary and broader context by expanding the teams knowledge of market segments
- Contextualize portfolio and exposure reporting that brings actionability to interpretation
As a Candidate, You Have
- Proven experience in the investment industry, with a strong background in trading, risk management, market analysis, and financial systems
- Familiarity with all major types of derivatives, ideally including experience using or supervising the use of derivatives for risk management and return enhancement in an environment with strong internal controls
- Insatiable curiosity about markets and asset managers enabling you to effectively plug into a team focusing on a global, multi-asset, manager-driven portfolio
- Exceptional quantitative/analytical skills, bringing a high level of determination, creativity, foresight, and pragmatism to the role
- Expertise with trading various direct investments and derivatives including single-name equities, futures, options, ETFs, and other areas
- Experience with multi-asset class portfolios, and specifically hedge funds
- Demonstrated the ability to adapt to, and work through, changing and competing priorities
- Proven experience of working to and meeting demanding reporting timelines
- Diplomatic communication skills to influence and inform partners
- An innate collegiality and willingness to be a resource to others
- Well-balanced and in-depth understanding of global financial markets and economies, established credentials for in-depth risk analyses
- Solid understanding of capital markets and their impact on the investment climate
- Emotional maturity, stress tolerance, self-confidence, and the ability to motivate others
