The Kansas City VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time board certified Ophthalmologist. Duties will include providing a full spectrum of eye care including but not limited to: Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with medical diseases, accomplished through ambulatory and bed-based resources assigned to Ophthalmology and Optometry. Actively participate in patient care through hospital rounds, morning reports, conferences, consultations, participation in ambulatory care, assigned call duty, and other similar activities. Focused on total eye care prevention, wellness and eye surgery as the overriding philosophy of practice. Provide cost-effective patient care, provider while assuring adequate access and maintaining a high level of quality as measured by patient satisfaction. Complex, comprehensive eye examinations in regularly scheduled outpatient clinics. Provide complex diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic eye care to patients including laser and surgical intervention. Contribute to teaching and supervision of Ophthalmology residents in outpatient clinic and supervision of eye surgery cases in the Operating Room. Perform other directly related duties as assigned, including performance of community care referrals as needed. The scope of these activities covers hospitalized patients and all phases of ambulatory care. Other responsibilities may include education of medical students and residents and/ or supervision of other staff.
