This Job Opportunity Announcement will be used to fill a Physician (Cardiologist) VM-0602-15 position with Acute Care Service at Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System. It will remain open until filled. The first review will be Monday, March 8, 2021 then every Friday thereafter. Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay) A cardiologist is an internist who specializes in finding, preventing and treating the diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular diseases). This specialist provides consultations to the medical and support staff on cardiology issues when needed. Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide skilled in test interpretation, selecting diagnostic procedures, patient counseling, differential diagnosis and medical and interventional therapeutics in the broad range of cardiovascular disorders. Perform echocardiography, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, Holter monitor and electrocardiogram interpretation, diagnosis and management of arrhythmias and Ischemic Heart Disease. Apply national and VA guidelines to patient screening, surveillance and management of cardiovascular diseases. Participate in the expanded use of clinical video telehealth (VVC and CVT)/electronic consultation (e-Consult) to improve access to cardiology care. Participate actively in performance improvement and attend assigned meetings or process action teams. Work collaboratively with other specialties. Possess computer skills to access and input typed data on each patient into the computerized patient record system (CPRS). Travel between the Montgomery and Tuskegee Campus; outpatient clinic may be held at these locations and consultation services will be provided to all other VA clinics under Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) catchment. Provides direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
