Positions are available for postdoctoral fellows in the research group of Melinda Diver at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City to elucidate molecular mechanisms of ion channels involved in pain sensing. We are particularly interested in how ion channels involved in somatosensation and pain signaling perform their specialized biological functions, including their critical roles in pathophysiology. Our approach is comprehensive, combining high-resolution structure determination, biochemical and biophysical approaches, electrophysiology, and high-throughput drug screening, thereby facilitating a broad understanding of the function of pain channels, as well as the development of new therapeutics for debilitating pain syndromes.
