DescriptionAs a research scientist in the
Tchieu lab at
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), you'll use both mouse and human pluripotent stem cells to investigate the fundamental building blocks in brain development as well as determine the mechanisms that cause neurological disorders like autism. Your goal will be to use molecular, cellular and biochemistry to answer questions related to what genes control brain growth and differentiation, what are the mechanisms that confer risk for both autism and congenital heart disease, and does viral infection cause signs of early neurodegeneration? You will be supported by an energetic team of research assistants and graduate students requiring excellent teamwork and communication skills. Your success will expand our knowledge and the data you generate can help millions of families affected by neurological disease while simultaneously developing your critical thinking and research program as an expert in this space.
The key responsibilities in this position include:
1. In vitro modeling of genetic variants causing neurological and/or cardiac disorders using mammalian cell culture.
2. Problem-solve research challenges and develop applicable platforms for investigation.
3. Prepare complete documentation of research activities for reference purposes - including protocol development.
