PEDIATRIC/LIFESPAN NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST: The Division of Neurobehavioral Health in the NeuroDevelopmental Science Center is seeking a pediatric/lifespan neuropsychologist for a full-time position specializing in neuropsychological assessment of children of all ages. The NeuroDevelopmental Science Center combines the disciplines of Neurobehavioral Health (central nervous system specialized psychologists and neuropsychologists), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics to form the only center of its kind in the state of Ohio. This position affords a unique opportunity to provide neuropsychological services in our growing rehabilitation service and spasticity and neuromuscular programs, as well as neuropsychological service needs for children and families dealing with epilepsy, childhood cancer, traumatic brain injury/concussion, neurocutaneous disorders, metabolic disorders, cranio-facial disorders, neonatal follow-up, congenital heart disease, Turner Syndrome, genetic disorders, renal transplantation clearance evaluations, and long-term effects of perinatal issues.
There are excellent clinical and research opportunities for collaboration with pediatric neuropsychologists and psychologists, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals as members of the multidisciplinary team, and the Neuropsychology Service maintains an active and large database comprised of every patient seen. Academic appointment appropriate to rank is provided through Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), and all licensed psychologists are members of the Medical Staff at Akron Children's Hospital and serve on hospital committees. Supervision, teaching, and training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in neuropsychology (APPCN) and psychology (APPIC), pediatric medical residents, developmental behavioral pediatrics fellows, and child psychiatry fellows are integral components of position responsibilities. Protected time for research and education/training, depending on the applicant's area(s) of interest, is available..
Requirements: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in child clinical psychology/pediatric psychology including completion of an internship in an APA/CPA-accredited child psychology/pediatric psychology program, eligibility for licensure in Ohio, and completion of a formal two year Pediatric Neuropsychology Post-doctoral Fellowship (APPCN preferred) that follows the Houston Conference Guidelines, and at least five years' experience in a hospital setting as a practicing neuropsychologist (post-Fellowship) are required. Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Ohio and ABPP in Clinical Neuropyschology must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
