Accountabilities / ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the OR Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall functioning and daily operations of the OR department while ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care is delivered for each case.
The OR Nurse Manager is an integral part of the facility's Core Leadership Team and frequently collaborates with other department managers to ensure overall patient safety and satisfaction.
Anticipate specific surgeon needs for scheduled surgical procedures. Assist with the development of the daily surgical schedule to ensure appropriate equipment, supplies and staffing is available for every case.
Supervise RNs, Surgical Technicians, Sterile Processing Technicians, Radiology Technicians and Orderlies.
Responsible for direction, teaching, coaching, counseling, and monitoring job results of OR personnel. Demonstrates positive attitudes and is a role model for others.
Supervise the smooth functioning of the OR department. Supervises OR personnel to ensure maximum productivity and quality of patient care.
Active participation in the facility's Quality Council to identify performance and quality improvement opportunities.
Responsible for assisting with the achievement of positive patient outcomes through implementation and promotion of facility policies and procedures. Promotes the vision, mission, and values of SCA.
Circulate during surgical procedures when needed.
Qualifications- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and/or BSN
- Current CT RN license
- 2+ years of OR circulating experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center
- 2+ years of OR management experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advance Life support (PALS) course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
