The Department of Pediatrics, Rhode Island Hospital (RIH)/Hasbro Children's Hospital (HCH) and Alpert Medical School of Brown University is seeking a full-time physician to lead its dynamic Eating Disorders Program. The Hasbro Eating Disorders Program is a well-established interdisciplinary program comprised of medical, social work, dietitian, and psychology providers, and provides care to adolescents and young adults in the medical inpatient and outpatient settings through the Adolescent Medicine Division. Collaborating programs for eating disordered patients within the Hasbro system include integrated medical-psychiatric inpatient and partial hospital settings. Administrative and clinical leadership of the eating disorders program are the primary job responsibilities of the position; it also includes participation in the Adolescent Healthcare Center's primary care clinic as part of the Division. All Division faculty are expected to provide patient care, clinical instruction of medical students and residents, and pursue scholarly activities in clinical or laboratory research or education. HCH is the only pediatric tertiary care center in RI; the Adolescent Medicine Division provides primary and subspecialty care of adolescents and young adults throughout the region. In addition to the Eating Disorders Program, subspecialty consult programs in the Division include gender and sexuality and gynecology. Inpatient responsibilities include the medical management of hospitalized eating disorders pediatrics, and call is shared among members of the Division. The candidate would join a multidisciplinary team that includes 6 physicians, 1 NP and a team of nurses, dietitians, and behavioral health experts that ensures high quality, family-centered care. HCH is the primary pediatric teaching facility for the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, supporting medical students and the Pediatric, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, and Pediatric/Psychiatry/Pediatric Psychiatry residency programs.
Candidates must qualify for a Clinical Educator appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The preferred candidate will have a record of excellence in eating disorders care and clinical instruction and will be either board eligible/certified in Adolescent Medicine or have a strong record of adolescent care in the primary pediatric, internal medicine, or family practice setting. For faculty seeking appointment at the rank of Associate or Ful Professor, evidence of significant clinical experience and/or high-quality scholarly productivity are required. Brown University and its affiliated teaching hospitals are equal opportunity (EEO/AA) employers and are committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty. The hospital and the university welcome nominations and applications from minorities, women and individuals with varied experience, perspectives and backgrounds, which would enrich the university's research, teaching and service missions.
