Northwell Health is seeking a full time Neonatal Hospitalist within the Division of Neonatology at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Performs advanced neonatal practice in Neonatology, including frontline patient management and technical procedures in Labor and Delivery, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit [NICU] and in other units in the hospital where neonates receive care.
Work Responsibilities:
Provides initial care to neonates in the delivery room and NICU. Duties will include daily pre-rounding, work rounds with the clinical team (Neonatologists, ACPs, NICU RNs, dieticians, etc) and safe handoff at change of shift.
Attends high risk deliveries and leads neonatal resuscitations in conjuncture with a Neonatologist.
Demonstrates competency in common neonatal care procedures including but not limited to endotracheal intubation, thoracotomy tube placement, umbilical line placement, percutaneous inserted central venous catheter placement, bladder catheterization and lumbar puncture. Experienced with whole body therapeutic hypothermia.
Documents daily progress notes reflecting management of newborns and critical changes in a complete and timely manner.
Appropriately bills for attendance of deliveries, performance of resuscitation and procedures.
Identifies quality improvement issues and participates in unit projects
Attends and participates in divisional educational activities, ACP meetings, Neonatal Performance Improvement Coordinating Group [PICG] and Leadership meetings.
Experience and Qualifications:
MD or DO degree
Licensed in New York State
Graduate of an Accredited Pediatric Residency Program
BC/BE American Board of Pediatrics
NRP certified
