The Hubert Department of Global Health (HGH), Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH), Emory University is seeking a post-doctoral fellow in chronic disease and global health. This position is a full-time, residential fellowship for a minimum of one year, with the possibility of continuation for additional years. The successful candidate will participate actively on externally funded research projects focusing on questions related to the measurement and dynamics of obesity and of multimorbidity over the lifecourse. Projects will involve harmonizing and bridging multiple large longitudinal datasets and conducting analyses therewith. The postdoc will contribute substantively to groundbreaking analyses, leading and co-authoring high impact manuscripts. The postdoc will have opportunities to participate in the intellectual life of the department and university, for example by attending seminars, giving guest lectures, and co-mentoring MPH students.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in demography, economics, epidemiology, biostatistics or relevant fields at the starting date. Excellent skills in quantitative research and writing are required, as well as demonstrated interest in and understanding of health over the lifecourse, chronic disease, and population health.

The Hubert Department of Global Health consists of 30 primary full-time faculty members and over 60 jointly appointed or adjunct faculty members, many of whom are affiliated with the neighboring Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Faculty members are from multiple disciplines, including Demography, Economics, Epidemiology, Medicine, Nutrition, and Sociology and have an outstanding portfolio of research in various areas of global health, including diabetes and other chronic diseases, nutrition, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health, vaccine-preventable diseases, and safe water and sanitation. About 100 MPH/MSPH students are admitted annually to the 2-year program in Global Health. The department hosts several international fellowships, including Hubert H. Humphrey, Fogarty, King Abdullah and William H. Foege Fellows.

The Rollins School of Public Health employs 190 full-time faculty and enrolls over 1,200 full and part-time graduate students in its masters and doctoral programs. The School is located on the Emory University campus, adjacent to the CDC. Nearby are the Carter Center, Task Force for Global Health, CARE International, American Cancer Society, and the Federal Reserve, among other agencies with connections to Emory. The School includes six academic departments, offers several interdisciplinary Certificates, including in Maternal and Child Health and the Socio-Contextual Determinants of Health. The School also offers joint MPH degrees with the schools of medicine, nursing, business, law, and theology. PhD programs include Nutrition and Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Behavioral Sciences and Health Education, Health Services and Health Policy and Environmental Health Sciences.
