The Department of Health Sciences at James Madison University invites applications for five tenure-track assistant professors to fill growth-related openings beginning Fall 2024. The 10-month tenure-track instructional faculty positions will be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor supporting the Bachelor of Sciences degree program in the Health Sciences Department. The College of Heath and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) is working to identify and dismantle oppressive and discriminatory policies, practices, and processes. Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach assigned undergraduate courses within the B.S. in Health Sciences curriculum (https://www.healthsci.jmu.edu/) and participate in service at the Unit, College and University levels.
Qualifications:
• Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree in public health, health sciences, health education and promotion, or a related field. ABD applicants will be considered with evidence of continued progress, with the condition that the successful candidate must have completed their doctoral degree by the start date. • Candidates should show potential and/or have experience to teach multiple courses in areas contributing to our engaging curriculum, such as health determinants, medical terminologies, statistical methods, chronic or infectious human diseases, and health research methods. • Candidates must demonstrate an ability to prepare undergraduate students for graduate education or enrollment in professional programs (e.g., public health, physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medicine). • Ability to articulate a research agenda and plan for scholarly activity. • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty across disciplines and departments. • Demonstrated commitment toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly and curricular environment. • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service. • Evidence of interdisciplinary/interprofessional scholarship and/or teaching. • Evidence of scholarly potential through peer-reviewed publications, presentations or creative works.
