The Opportunity
Reporting to the CEO of Banner University Medical Group, the incomingChiefPhysician Executive (CPE) of Banner University Medical Group - Tucson (BUMG-T) will have oversight of an academic medical group comprised of approximately 745 providers across two hospitals and 26 clinical locations, as well as serve as a member of the clinical leadership team at the system level. The CPE will work in collaboration with the CEO of Banner University Medical Center – Tucson (BUMC-T), the University of Arizona College of Medicine Dean and Department Chairs, as well as other clinical and operational teams. This position provides leadership, vision, and direction to promote excellence in patient care, practice efficiency and strong financial stewardship with overall responsibility for medical group management, as well as the integration, coordination, and improvement of clinical care activities and patient safety for designated healthcare operations. The successful candidate who performs in the role will be considered for additional advancement opportunities anticipated on the horizon.
Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent medical degree. Additional advanced degree, such as MBA, is desirable.
Board Certification in respective specialty/discipline. Hospital-based or proceduralist specialties preferred.
Possess or eligible to obtain an Arizona state medical license and be eligible for medical staff privileges.
Level of expertise typically gained through five years of experience in progressively responsible clinical practice leadership positions, including prior experience as a physician leader, for example a Medical Director, Chief, Chair, or C-Suite leader for a large multi-specialty group practice, teaching hospital/hospital system, health plan, or an academic medical center. Prior academic leadership experience, such as Department Chair or Division Chief, is highly desired.
Proven track record leading physician groups, including group facilitation, leadership development, team building, performance management, and driving cultural change.
