The Robert Larner, MD, College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and The University of Vermont Medical Center are seeking a full-time faculty psychiatrist at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level on the clinical scholar pathway to join an enthusiastic team of professionals at The University of Vermont Medical Center. This 400-bed university-based general hospital includes a 28-bed state-of-the-art adult psychiatry inpatient unit. The hospital is the principal teaching site for residents and medical students at The Robert Larner, MD, College of Medicine at the University of Vermont.
The successful candidate will be a psychosomatic oriented psychiatrist, whose focus will be to provide neurostimulation and neuromodulation techniques by serving in an active electroconvulsive therapy program and helping develop newly funded programs in transcranial magnetic stimulation and ketamine treatments. There is also an opportunity for medical leadership of the service.
The current services include three part-time psychiatrists. General psychiatry residents rotate on the service, which also hosts medical students on clerkship and electives, and other interested learners.
The selected candidate will demonstrate the training and expertise to provide direct patient care, collaborate with other professional disciplines, and work with referring agencies and providers. In addition, they will be responsible for supervision and teaching of house officers, medical students, and other staff. An appreciation of the importance of and satisfaction from performing these critical functions and an ability to work collaboratively are essential. Applicants must have a medical degree and be board certified (preferably) or board eligible in Psychiatry. Board eligibility/certification in Psychosomatic Medicine and training in ECT, TMS, and/or ketamine is preferred.
