Summary:
Westchester Medical Center, a quaternary regional academic medical center in Valhalla, NY, 30 minutes north of New York City, seeks an academic attending physician in Vitreoretinal Surgery Ophthalmology to join our expanding faculty. Westchester Medical Center is the flagship of the 10-hospital Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). The 600-bed medical center is the primary teaching affiliate for New York Medical College and serves as a regional referral and trauma center.
Job Summary:
This dynamic faculty member will join the Department of Ophthalmology with rank commensurate with experience. The department has eleven full time and three part time faculty members representing most specialties of ophthalmology including other retinal providers. This is an established academic and community practice with a mission to provide education and teaching opportunities to hospital residents, as well as New York Medical College students. One core objective is to provide trauma call at Westchester Medical Center and Maria Fareri Children's Hospital for ophthalmologic emergencies. The Department has a newly constructed vitreoretinal surgical suite including a 3-D intraoperative retinal visualization system and integrated intraoperative OCT, and the practice has the newest technology in diagnostic imaging equipment. There is a state-of-the-art telemedicine program in the hospital with opportunity to include retina capability. Interest in electrophysiology, clinical research, pediatric retina, or inherited retinal disease is of interest but not required.
Experience:
Applicants should have completed a Vitreoretinal fellowship, and be eligible to obtain a New York State license. The successful candidate should have excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to patient care, medical education, and scholarly activities to further advance the mission of the center in providing state-of-the-art comprehensive care. The ideal candidate should have academic experience and would be expected to participate in program-building activities.This employed position in our academic group practice offers comprehensive benefits and malpractice insurance.
