Cleveland Clinic announces a search for the Chair of the global Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) within Cleveland Clinic Research. QHS is home to 25 faculty who lead a unique, multidisciplinary group of 120 biostatisticians, bioinformaticians, epidemiologists, qualitative researchers, outcomes researchers, social scientists, database developers, data scientists and programmers. The department has a rich tradition of conducting translational medical research aimed at improving patient care. Its work spans study design, risk prediction, education, programming, bioinformatics, machine learning, causal inference and numerous biostatistical applications, making it a key driver of scientific advancement at Cleveland Clinic. The Chair will strategically develop and lead the department, strengthening its focus in key strategic areas. This individual will collaborate closely with clinical and research leaders across the enterprise to define and achieve the vision and strategic goals of research at Cleveland Clinic. A key responsibility will be to foster interdisciplinary collaborations both within Cleveland Clinic and outside of the organization. The Chair will facilitate collaborations with clinical investigators to design human-based studies and statistical analyses. We seek a leader who understands the importance of supporting the diverse research agendas of all QHS staff, which includes collaborative research, grant-funded projects, methodological research and creative scholarly work. The position will be at the rank of Full Staff, with an academic faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience available at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
This position offers a singular opportunity for a distinguished scholar to grow clinical, translational and basic research and lead a global department at one of the world’s leading academic health systems. Applicants should be a recognized leader in quantitative sciences, with a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in statistics, biostatistics or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of independent, interdisciplinary and innovative research, with at least five years of collaborative leadership experience. Demonstrated fiscal management and prior success in building teams and fostering partnerships is required.
