The candidate must have strong background and expertise in vaccine development, assay development and bioanalytical characterization, assay qualification and validation, quality control and quality assurance, IND, GMP and vaccine regulatory processes.
The position requires leading vaccine immunology research, design and oversee the development of new serological assays and related methods, completion of development, qualification and validation reports, interface with regulatory agencies. Design clinical testing plan. Oversee the testing of clinical trial samples. Implement QC/QA and data release. Prepare SOPs and assay documents. Oversee technicians, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within their area of expertise. Actively conducting research leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals, mentoring students, and contributing to departmental and university service activities. Contribute to establishing a strong research program with the goal of securing external funding.
Responsibilities include:
Research:
Developing and executing a research agenda related to vaccine evaluation and clinical immunological analyses, securing funding, publishing research findings in scholarly journals, presenting research at conferences.
Teaching:
Designing and delivering courses, creating course materials, grading assignments, and providing feedback to students.
Student and lab member mentorship:
Advising undergraduate and graduate students on research projects, career development, and academic progress. Train lab members.
Service:
Participating in departmental committees, serving on university-wide boards, reviewing manuscripts for journals, and engaging in professional organizations.

Qualifications required:
A Ph.D. degree in biotechnology or immunology
- >8 years of experience in vaccine development, immunology and regulatory
- Experience in vaccine development and bioanalytical assay characterization
- GMP, GLP drug manufacturing and laboratory testing
- A strong publication record demonstrating research expertise.
- Demonstrated teaching ability at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
