Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Duties
- **This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until April 7th - 2025
- The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be Monday February 12th - 2025 - with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks

- Learn more Financial Disclosure Report: Not required The Physician Assistant (PA) for Surgical Services reports directly to the Chief of Surgical Service or his/her designee at the VA Central California Healthcare System (VACCHCS)
- The incumbent will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive pre-op - peri-operative and post- op care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of the assigned Surgical specialty
- The PA functions as an agent of the surgeon and member of the surgical team who is well versed in surgical aspects of care - including proficient knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- In collaboration with the staff surgeons - Surgical Residents - and adjunctive health team members - he/she will be engaged in the comprehensive aspects of care for the surgical patient in the outpatient and inpatient setting
- Major Duties include but not limited to: Facilitate continuity of care between services as well as facilitate best practices in health care delivery for the surgical patient
- PA will assume a clinical load to facilitate clinic utilization and decrease waiting times
- Required to first assist in specific subspecialty sections as well as demonstrate and sustain competency in the performance of specialty procedures - diagnostic or therapeutic surgical interventions - e.g. - arthrocentesis - casting/splinting - etc
- Review of all routine consults and communicate with requesting providers regarding additional testing
- Prioritize - collaborate - delegate - and engage in facility performance measures in an effort to provide excellent care delivery processes in an efficient and safe manner
