Summary
The Physician Assistant in Primary Care Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission at the Hickory CBOC. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for Highly Qualified Applicants. This is an Open-Continuous announcement that will remain open until the position is filled. Duties

- Duties include but are not limited to the following: Demonstrates the ability to independently manage a panel of patients with complex - chronic care issues using the best available evidence and national guidelines to achieve optimal population health and effective disease management
- Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with assigned Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary teams to identify - analyze and coordinate internal and external resources to resolve care issues and meet the medical and psychosocial needs of assigned panel of patients
- Appropriately orders diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needs and health condition
- Appropriately prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions that support the patient's ability to maintain or regain their health status
- Monitors and documents the effectiveness of treatment interventions - achievement of institutional quality measures and performance metrics
- Initiates referrals/consults to the appropriate service when indicated vii
- Sets clinical care goals - short and long term - in collaboration with patient - provider(s) - and family members/caregivers
- Provides education to patients and their families regarding the complex medical - social - and behavioral conditions with a focus on self-management - prevention and wellness based on the patient's health goals and needs

- Customer Services Requirements: Meets the needs of customers while supporting the medical center and service missions
- Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients - visitors - volunteers - and all medical center staff) in a courteous - tactful - and respectful manner
- Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures
- Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately

- You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment
- Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application
- Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply
- Pay: Competitive salary - regular salary increases - potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1 -000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Tele-work: Not Authorized Work Schedule: Full-time - Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm
