Summary

This Physician Assistant Hospitalist position is located at the West Haven - CT VAMC. This position is full time at 40 hours per week - Monday thru Friday - 9:00am - 5:30pm

Duties

• Physician Assistant hospitalists will work on the inpatient service at VACT - in West Haven
• They will be broadly responsible for direct patient care of hospitalized patients - including admissions - transfers - ongoing daily care - and discharges
• They may also be involved with coverage of the blind center
• This is not a supervisory position
• Duties include but are not limited to: Daily care of hospitalized patients - including patient assessment - diagnosis - management - arranging consults - writing orders and scheduling tests Daily progress note writing All aspects of patient discharge - including discharge medication reconciliation - patient discharge instructions - follow-up appointment scheduling - consents for transfer and discharge summaries Admitting patients - including diagnosis - management - placing orders and consults Coordination of care with other services including psychiatry - surgery - neurology - medicine specialties - social work - nursing - physical therapy Procedures that the individual PA is credentialed for Involvement in quality improvement projects in the hospital under guidance of service chief Admitting scheduled admissions - potentially including being involved in the scheduling process to help distribute admissions evenly throughout the week Daily care - admissions - discharges and coordination of admissions to the blind center Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday - 9:00am - 5:30pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position
