The Associate Professor is considered a senior member of the University faculty and serves as a respected mentor to colleagues and students. Appointment as an Associate Professor signifies demonstrated excellence as an educator, competence as a scholar, and recognition in professional service.
Participates in mission of the Nurse Anesthesia Department and development, implementation, and evaluation of the Nurse Anesthesia didactic and clinical curriculum. Responsible for teaching theory and clinical within the Nurse Anesthesia program, supervision and evaluation of student progress in the classroom, clinical, and laboratory setting. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Demonstrates behaviors at AdventHealth University in harmony with AHU’s “Four Words” of Nurture, Excellence, Spirituality, and Stewardship as well as AdventHealth’s Performance Standards of “Keep Me Safe, Love Me, Make it Easy, and Own It.”
- Consults with Department Chair to recommend budget request(s) that assures adequate resources to support nurse anesthesia faculty and preceptors.
- Supervises clinical nurse anesthesia faculty and preceptors. Develops, reviews, and revises nurse anesthesia policies and procedures.
- Identifies and recommends to Nurse Anesthesia Department Chair appropriate nurse anesthesia faculty for employment. Identifies and recommends to Nurse Anesthesia Department Chair appropriate clinical faculties and community agency linkages for student learning experiences.
- Documents and maintains current student clinical experiences for Nurse Anesthesia Department Chair. Documents and maintains current faculty, preceptor, and student records and files for Nurse Anesthesia Department.
- Designs, plans, and coordinates nurse anesthesia clinical practicum. Develops, design, and delivers instruction in core and nurse anesthesia specialty courses. Participates in student advising and mentorship.
- Assists Department Chair in maintaining nurse anesthesia course of study in compliance with Southern Association of Schools and Colleges and Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program’s accreditation standards.
- Participates in clinical administration of nurse anesthesia to patients across the life span. Supervises and coordinates supervision of nurse anesthesia students in the clinical area.
- Exhibits characteristics of a Christian professional. Engages in the academic roles of teaching, service, scholarship, and research. Maintains involvement in professional organizations and honor societies.
- Assumes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Nurse Anesthesia, Nursing, Education, or other higher education degree
- Graduate degree in Nurse Anesthesia specialty
- Seven years current experience in clinical practice as nurse anesthetist
- Seven years teaching experience at the graduate level.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Current, valid State of Florida license as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN)
- Current certification/recertification as certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA)
