The Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Department at Boston Children’s Hospital seeks an academic orthopedic surgeon with a passion for clinical excellence, research, and education to join our Sports Medicine Division.
The Sports Medicine Division is a multidisciplinary team of medical sports medicine physicians, orthopedic sports medicine surgeons, dietitians, sports behavioral health clinicians, and sports podiatrists. Our team cares for children, adolescents, and young adults with sports-related injuries and offers specialized programs for sports concussions, running injuries, female athletes, performing artist athletes, throwing athletes, ACL injuries, and a sports ultrasound clinic.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will provide clinical care at our main Boston campus and satellite locations while also supervising and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.
Additionally, they will dedicate significant time and effort to building an active research portfolio.
Appointment as an instructor, assistant professor, or associate professor at Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements.
Qualifications
Suitable candidates will have an MD or MD-PhD and be board certified or board eligible in orthopedic surgery. Fellowship training in both pediatric orthopedics and sports medicine is highly preferred.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure without restriction within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. All candidates must have evidence of advanced training in sports medicine and pediatric orthopedics — or be willing to obtain such advanced training — prior to appointment within our department. In most cases, this will mean completion of an accredited sports medicine fellowship as well as training in pediatric orthopedics.
Compensation
$300,000 annual base salary.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay estimate at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus compensation ranging from $100,000 to $800,000 annually, medical/vision/dental coverage, back-up child-care, housing-loan subsidies, generous paid time off, 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans, pension, tuition and license reimbursement, and commuter and other employee discounts.
Application Process
All inquiries are confidential. Interested candidates should send a personal statement outlining their clinical and research interests, three potential references, and curriculum vitae to Joanne Casey at BCHOrthoSportsRecruit@childrens.harvard.edu.
