Academic Physician and Section Chief - Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics
Salary Range: Associate Professor: $280,000 - $320,000 per year; Professor: $320,000 to $360,000 per year
The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics is searching for a full-time faculty member at the rank of associate professor or professor to serve as an academic physician and as Section Chief of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. In this role, the Section Chief will be responsible for enhancing the Section’s clinical and academic excellence through program building, administrative leadership, and mentorship of the faculty and staff of the Section and the ambulatory clinics. The appointee will provide clinical care to pediatric patients and as Section Chief advance high-quality equitable access and strengthen institutional and community partnerships. In addition, the appointee will be expected to undertake research and scholarly activity in any area of basic, translational, or clinical research including but not limited to health outcomes, clinical trials and health interventions, health economics, population health, and/or informatics, while supporting faculty development and extramural funding. Other responsibilities include mentoring faculty, supervising students, residents, and fellows, and advancing innovative training activities.

Our department includes more than 200 faculty physicians, scientists and clinical associates. In addition to teaching medical students, residents and fellows, our faculty conduct cutting-edge translational and clinical research with strong supporting core services. The Section of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics is dedicated to managing the unique needs of children who present with a wide range of developmental and behavioral conditions. The scope of its clinical service covers ambulatory sites located in Comer Children's Hospital and Hyde Park, and a growing number of regional sites. In addition, it has a strong relationship with Advocate Children’s Hospital and with La Rabida Children’s Hospital. The Section has a well-established fellowship program and a growing research program.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) have or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified in Pediatrics, and 4) be board certified in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, or a similar area.
