Location & Basics
- Site: Mather Air Force Base (Mather AFB), California
- Agency: Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Department of Veterans Affairs
- Job Type: Full?time, permanent staff physician position
Salary & Benefits
- Salary Range: $261,000 to $300,000 per year
- Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Up to $200,000 for eligible candidates
- Annual performance bonuses and regular salary growth
- Paid Time Off: Approximately 50–55 days per year (26 annual leave days, 13 sick leave days, 11 federal holidays, plus roughly 5 days CME leave)
- CME Allowance: Up to $1,000 annually
- Retirement: Classic federal pension vesting after 5 years + 401(k) with up to 5% agency match
- Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, long-term care; portability into retirement
- Malpractice Liability: Covered by the VHA, including tail protection
Role & Responsibilities
- Reports to the Chief of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service
- Analyzes surgical, cytological, and autopsy specimens to diagnose disease and advise treatment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board certification or fellowship in Hematopathology
- Experience in Cytopathology is preferred, though not required
