Cooper University Health Care (CUHC) is seeking an academic addiction medicine physician to join our growing addiction medicine division. Cooper is a comprehensive academic, tertiary care, safety-net health care system affiliated with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, NJ. CUHC and CMSRU are actively committed to diversity at all levels of the organizations. The Cooper addiction medicine division is an interdisciplinary, medical specialty program within our university healthcare setting. Our division provides both inpatient and outpatient specialty care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders through a variety of programs including: a hospital consultation service, inpatient detoxification/stabilization and residential programs, emergency department and hospital bridge programs, community paramedicine and field buprenorphine initiation, jail transition care, outpatient group and specialty medical visits, a low barrier walk-in clinic, a wrap-around perinatal SUD program, dual diagnosis psychiatric and addiction medical care, integrated addiction and infectious disease care including HIV and hepatitis C treatment, and other innovative community work. We run several clinical innovation, education, and research programs. The successful candidate should have a strong desire to shape the delivery of substance use disorder care and be versed in urban underserved care and harm reduction. This physician would report to the division head of addiction medicine, and would have an academic appointment at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. We are seeking to hire both an adolescent and a general academic addiction specialist physician.
Qualifications:
Board certified or board eligible in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry
MD or DO from an accredited institution
Active medical license
Innovative spirit in the clinical setting, superior teamwork with interdisciplinary collaborative approach, desire to work with underserved populations
Preferred: completed fellowship in addiction medicine

Academic-level support for patients struggling with addiction. The Cooper Center for Healing takes an integrative approach in providing patients access to pain, addiction, and behavioral health care in a variety of entrance points based on each individual need. Patient services include but are not limited to - Inpatient addiction consultation, Outpatient addiction consultation, Perinatal substance use disorder program. The program also offers grant-funded undergraduate and graduate medical education training in addiction medicine and research to advance policy in the field of addiction medicine and beyond. The Center for Healing is staffed with a multidisciplinary and compassionate team of providers from many disciplines, including addiction medicine, emergency medicine, family medicine, psychiatry, psychology and behavioral health.
