Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Neuro-Oncology

This APP position will have responsibility for the Neuro-Oncology patient population. The successful provider will primarily be responsible for patient care both in the outpatient setting, but may also provide select services to patients it the inpatient including rounding and assistance with coordination of care. Outpatient duties would include evaluating patients in the clinic setting, writing chemotherapy orders for planned chemotherapy cycles given inpatient and/or outpatient, managing outpatient prescriptions and home care orders, performing bone marrow aspirations and biopsies and lumbar punctures with chemotherapy injection, educating patients and their families on active issues and therapeutic changes, interacting with appropriate consultants, assistance with data monitoring related to the Neuro-Oncology patient population, and scheduling appropriate follow up for patients. The successful individual is expected to work collaboratively with other providers within the leukemia and solid tumor teams and the broader CCBD to help with completion of projects as they are identified. Participation in focused quality or research projects, in conjunction with the Neuro-Oncology attending team, is encouraged. The position will be a 5 day per week position, without additional weekend or holiday coverage responsibilities. Required certifications PNP-PC, PNP-PC AC, FNP or PA, Prior pediatric oncology experience preferred.
This position works in collaboration with the attending physicians and works within their scope of practice to provide excellent clinical care for patients. Plays a critical role in the patient family medical team. Professional who may practice in hospital’s inpatient and/or outpatient setting.
Master's or Doctorate degree from an Accreditation Commission for Nursing (ACEN) and/or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited graduate school of nursing in Pediatric Acute care, Pediatric primary care or Family Medicine OR Master's degree from nationally accredited ARC-PA program. (Required)
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or obtained by start date. (Required)
Current State of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner OR Current State of Arizona certification as a Physician Assistant or obtained by start date. (Required)
National board certification to match area of education OR maintain certificate in National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). (Required)
