Marshfield Clinic Health System, Marshfield Medical Center is recruiting a full-time pediatric surgeon based in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
Marshfield Children's Hospital is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Surgeon in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Marshfield Children's Hospital is a children's hospital within the Marshfield Medical Center. It is the only children's hospital in central and northern Wisconsin. There will be a wide variety of cases including congenital anomalies, cancer, appendicitis, and hernias. This position has excellent subspecialty collaboration and onsite support with Pediatric Specialists from Anesthesiology, Neonatology, Critical Care, Gastro, Hem/Onc, Cardio, Endo, Genetics, ID, Nephrology, Neuro, Pulmonary, Rheum, Urology, Behavioral Health/Developmental, to primary care pediatrics. You will have allied provider support.
Marshfield Children's Hospital has 24 bed level 3 NICU with 24/7 neonatology support; 8 bed PICU with 24/7 pediatric intensivist support including sedation services; 26 bed pediatric acute beds including 8 bed Heme-Onc positive pressure rooms and 24/7 pediatric hospitalist support. Marshfield Children's is an ACS Verified Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Program and a member of the Children's Oncology Group (COG).
Opportunities include teaching Surgical and Pediatric Residents and medical students. Research opportunities are available through the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute. Marshfield Clinic Research Institute is pioneering health care research - discovering new knowledge and innovative approaches to better meet the needs of patients at Marshfield Clinic Health System and around the world.
Work week expectations:
The pediatric surgeon will have up to 12 weeks of time away per year. Call responsibilities are shared with pediatric surgeons from Children's Wisconsin/Medical College of Wisconsin. Opportunities exist for interested candidates to help lead the Pediatric Trauma Program and serve as the Surgical Liaison to COG if desired.
Support:
Surgical residents from the Marshfield General Surgery Program cover the pediatric surgery inpatients, assist with operations, and participate in consults. Additionally, a Nurse Practitioner is part of the Pediatric Surgery Program.
Dedicated OR block time: Full OR days on Wednesday; other days shared block time for urgent and add on cases.
Clinic Time:
The Pediatric Surgeon will have on average two scheduled days of clinic and the Pediatric Surgery NP has clinic 5 days a week.
Marshfield Children's has a longstanding collaborative relationship with Children's Wisconsin to provide clinical coverage for pediatric surgical patients at Marshfield Medical Center.
