The Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System (VA), is seeking a Hospitalist. The incumbent will participate in hospitalist shifts for medicine inpatient admissions, continued medicine inpatient care and medicine discharge services at the Iowa City VA Health Care System. This is a dual appointment with the University of Iowa. Incumbent is expected to work at the Iowa City VA 5/8 and the University of Iowa 3/8. This position is accountable to the Chief of Inpatient (Hospitalist) Service and ultimately to the Chief of Medicine. S/he will have knowledge of clinical delivery structures, electronic medical records, and experience in clinical management and administrative matters. S/he will perform a variety of complex clinical and administrative tasks including but is not limited to, TMS training/yearly clinical competencies, patient education and guidance, timely and precise documentation, process work flow and other functionality regarding necessary clinical systems. S/he will work to optimize the usage of clinical systems through education and training, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals. S/he will have proven communication skills (written and verbal), team-building skills, and demonstrated ability to promote morale and teamwork. S/he will have a general knowledge of military and civilian personnel management procedures of VA performance appraisals. Work Schedule: The Iowa City VA Medical Center is an acute care facility operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week. While most tours of duty are scheduled during the day, the possibility of "on-call" and working evenings, nights and weekends does exist. "On call" and shift changes, will be considered based on patient and facility needs. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
