The Orlando Health Colon and Rectal Institute is seeking a full-time Colorectal Surgeon with a focused interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)and Endometriosis to join our team. This is a unique opportunity tohelp develop and shape a specialized, multidisciplinary programwithin a well-established group.
Qualified candidates must be fellowship-trained and board-certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery and be eligible for licensure/work in the state of Florida. Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient surgical and endoscopic care, consultative services, outpatient clinics, clinical research. Candidates must have an interest and passion for teaching, as they will be involved in training the next generation of physicians with Orlando Healths Fellowship Programs. Experienced physicians with a strong commitment to education and multidisciplinary care are encouraged to apply.
The Orlando Health Colon and Rectal Institute is a division of the Orlando Health Cancer Institute that has an established clinical research program, ACGME-accredited Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship program, and a non-accredited Minimally Invasive fellowship program. The Rectal Cancer program is NAPRC-accredited and recently was re-certified through 2027.
Complementing the services of the Colon and Rectal Institute, Orlando Health has a robust Digestive Health Institute with a world class team of gastroenterology specialists. In addition to oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology departments. We also have a large integrative medicine department which includes cancer support community and a medical genetics team. The Cancer Institute includes divisions of surgical, medical, and radiation oncology, with a sub specialized focused on cancer care, serving the patients with our tertiary center downtown, as well as services at our 4 regional cancer institutes throughout central Florida. The cancer institute provided care to 11,000 new patients and 90,000 follow up visits last year.
Role Requirements:
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Colorectal Surgery.
- Qualified candidates must have completed an ACGME/AOA-Accredited Fellowship program in Colorectal Surgery
- Minimum of four (3) years post-fellowship clinical experience.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in IBD and/or endometriosis care specialized IBD training is not required, but experience in this area is strongly valued.
- Unrestricted Florida Medical License (or the ability to obtain one)
- Minimally Invasive Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in colonoscopy, laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery.
- Case Volume Verification: Submission of a case log for the most recent two (2) years of practice.
- Operative Performance Assessment: The candidate must agree to one of the following Direct operating room observation, in which a CRI surgeon travels to the applicants institution to observe operative performance as an external observer; and/or submission of a minimum of three (3) unedited operative videos demonstrating major laparoscopic and/or robotic cases.
- Professional References: Provision of three (3) professional references who have worked directly with the applicant and can comment on clinical performance, professionalism, and team collaboration
