Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Duties

• NOTE: This multi-discipline recruitment that will result in the hiring of one of the following disciplines: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant To apply to the Nurse Practitioner Posting: CBTD-12926880-26-CC This Physician Assistant - GEC (Geriatrics) position is located within the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service at the Togus - ME location
• This is position is full-time at 40 hours per week

• Duties include - but are not limited to: Attends to patient care needs in the CLCs and in the Geriatric Outpatient Clinics Obtains pertinent medical histories and performs physical examinations and orders appropriate diagnostic testing to complete the evaluation of a patient or to follow the course of an illness
• Initiates consults for specialty care as needed
• Writes orders for treatments - diet - activity - vital signs - CODE status - discharges and transfers Responsible for ongoing pain and symptom management with evaluation and adjustments as needed
• Special interest/skill in geriatric illnesses with availability to other medical providers for consultation
• Writes orders for CLC residents - geriatric clinic patients - State Veteran Home residents - and Contract Nursing Home residents for medications and/or durable medical equipment requests as needed
• Participates in weekly inter-disciplinary team meetings
• Works closely with Registered Nurses - Social Workers - and families in coordinating care
• Available to other VA Maine HCS Providers for consultative services as needed
• Work Schedule: Full-time
• Monday-Friday
